In my LA lesson, I learn the story "Way up to heaven" and "Lamb to the slaughter". "Lamb to the slaughter" and "Way up to heaven" have some similarities and differences too.
Basically, "Lamb to the slaughter" is about Mary who cared about her husband but her husband decided to leave her in the end, probably for another woman. This made Mary disappointed and upset and she killed him with a leg of lamb. Mary had a change in her character and attitude after that. She immediately planned on how to prevent her from getting the death penalty. She became shrewd, emotionless after she murdered her husband and only cared about herself.
The story "Way up to heaven" is about a woman, Mrs Foster who hated being late for anything like missing a bus. Her husband kept torturing her by delaying her time and made her late. When Mrs Foster wanted to meet her daughter and grandchildren at Paris, she bought the plane ticket. But Mr Foster kept delaying her time and knew that there would be a haze coming up so that her plane would be postponed. Unfortunately, the plane trip were postponed to the next day. Mrs Foster got up very early the next day and prepared to board the plane but Mr Foster said that he forgot to take a present with him and went up again to take, delaying her time. Unfortunately, the lift got trapped and he was stuck inside. Mrs Foster saw that the present was in a hole at the seat where Mr Foster was seating in the car and it looked like it had been push into the hole by a helping hand. She immediately went in to look for him. As she was the hearing type, when she open the door, she heard the alarm button in the lift was being triggered and she knew that her husband was trapped in the lift, she left him alone and went off to Paris. After the six weeks of holiday, Mr Foster was obviously dead in the lift. Mrs Foster did not even became sad but instead, she did not bother about him.
The similarities of both the stories are that the wives in both stories got tortured by their husbands and eventually, they killed their husbands. They were also cruel, shrewd and emotionless after killing their husbands. Besides, they did not even bother about their husbands.
The differences are Patrick in Lamb to the Slaughter was afraid that Mary knew that he was leaving her so this shows that he cared about her feelings while in the way up to the Heaven, Mr Foster tried to torture her wive every time she wanted to go to an appointment. Mary also killed Patrick in one go while Mrs Foster killed her husband slowly, making him suffer without food and water.
In my opinion, both Mrs Foster and Mary should not killed their husband instantly but sort things out with their husband.
